Stories untold

Your stories of Hackney

To celebrate Black History Season, Hackney’s Children and Education services are inviting Black and Global Majority students, residents and staff to share intergenerational stories of growing up, living or working in Hackney.

The stories of Black and Global Majority people are often overlooked and this exhibition will acknowledge and celebrate the narratives and legacies of the young and old within our community and draws upon the rich resource of the Hackney Archives. Find out more about Hackney Archives. Hackney has a wealth of talent and this is an opportunity to showcase, inspire and connect as a community.

We are asking schools to select between 10-15 children who would be willing to share their stories. This can be in any form - writing, art, music, poetry - and will be displayed in The Tomlinson Centre.

A private view (postponed from last year) will be rescheduled in the spring of 2024.

If you would like to make a submission or speak to someone for more information, please email antiracistpractice@hackney.gov.uk
